I have seen reading challenges, but always seemed to spot them when they were half over. With the new year starting, t here are a bunch more starting up. The idea is you make a public list of the books you plan to read during the year.. there are specific challenges for each theme. Maybe someone can find an even better list but the first two pages here contain some:
http://teddyrose.blogspot.com/ On the second page Teddy is hosting a 'books won' reading challenge that I am thinking of joining in on to read some of the books I have won. ANybody else interested in trying? Would be my first challenge, so will drag someone with me :P

List of more for those that are interested. I am most interested in the won books challenge, but may take a peek. Friend on twitter sent me this site that lists them:
http://novelchallenges.blogspot.com/ For the won books challenge I think that one from Chatelaine that a couple of us won would count, and I won a copy of Julie & Julia, two of us have 'In cheap we trust'.. that is three just there!

at the rate i'm going I'll be happy to finish off one book this year! lol Actually it does sound fun. I'd be up for that, might force me to take time off to read for enjoyment.

Oh, and Mouse and I both have 'Nutureshock' from that one book set right? That brings us up to 3 shared books...

Ok, won't be making any decisions until I am back in PG where my books are, but here is what I am thinking.
I am going to participate in at least one challenge, the books won challenge: http://teddyrose.blogspot.com/2009/1...challenge.html Rather than posting it on the blog I will make a thread here, and others can add to it if they want to participate. If more than one of us are reading the same book, will make a separate book discussion thread for it in this forum (For example the Chatelaine book, or books more than one of us have won, etc). For the reading challenges you list in one post the books you choose, the authors, and the page length.. and then keep track of your progress by updating your post (so we would all be in one thread for the books won reading challenge). Each type of challenge has different rules, # of books etc so read the links. Many challenges allow books to overlap, so I am seriously considering also making a thread for Chunksters Reading Challenge (books over 500 pages): http://chunksterchallenge.blogspot.com/ For those who want a challenge but not necc. a specific theme there is the TBR (To be read) challenge, where the books simply have to be on your to be read pile: http://readerchallenges.wordpress.com/tbr-lite/ Remember the first post has a link that lists book challenges, there are historical book challenges, international, womens, vampire, etc.

Of course this has to come up just when I have to give my time to studying, hee hee.
The won books challenge seems fun. Will keep it in mind if I see that the schedule isn't too hectic. I don't think I'd get above the bronze level, since it's during 1 month right?
